Simulation of the planetary plain bearing operating behavior
The COMBROS PG program enables isothermal and non-isothermal calculation of the static and dynamic bearing characteristics of planetary gear plain bearings.
A high power density and the utilization of the full potential of the gearing of planetary gears require special solutions for planetary gear bearings. Practical applications show that planetary plain bearings can significantly extend the operating range of planetary gearboxes.
The new plain bearing calculation program was developed for the simulation of slow-running and highly loaded plain bearings in planetary gearboxes. It enables the prediction of static and dynamic bearing characteristics in hydrodynamic operation. In addition to taking into account the kinematic conditions of stationary pin and rotating planet, important effects such as mixed friction, wear and rotating bearing bushes can be mapped for this application. By integrating stiffness matrices, a coupling between solid and fluid mechanics can be efficiently taken into account.
With a rigid calculation, the maximum pressure of 322 MPa is at the bearing edges. If elastic deformation is taken into account, the maximum pressure is reduced directly to 25.4 MPa. If the elastic calculation is performed with consideration of profiling, the pressure is equalized due to the reduction in edge support.
